#1. As we watch progress through the film, "The Hurt Locker", how is the idea of realism being used for this movie? What kind of effects do you think this has on viewers?
I think that realism is being used with how intense it all really is when we are in a war. With walking up to bombs or finding people and needed them to away from the known bomb. Even the intensity when the soldiers don't like each other or just joke around to where they don't want to be messing around anymore and the other one doesn't get it. I mean, I'm sitting in a classroom watching this movie with my class mates, and when I see someone getting shot I flinch. I think that has an effect on some people, it shows what it really is like. Someone who wants to go and be a solider and doesn't know what to except then it will put them on their butt with reality. This movie I think helps with that that you have to except the unexpected.
#2. What do you think your biggest take away is from this class? What would be a suggestion to make the class better for next year?
I have learned that some movies aren't always accurate. They dramatize, only tell parts of the story to almost only one side of the story. I've realized that Hollywood isn't about portraying the truth but just trying to make an income or get some actor/actresses name out there. Something that I would suggest to make the class better is to have more class discussion when it comes to researching the films. That way they will get a better idea what will be in the movie and what they are about to see then just reading reviews since that is just someone opinion on a movie.
